Welcome! December 20^th 2011

For a very long time my Press and PR gurus, my retail advisors, and my personal Press office have been urging me to start writing a blog. Although I have achieved a level of notoriety (my name is imprinted into every pair of shoes sold throughout the world under the French Sole label) and obviously after almost twenty five years I am a reasonably well known shoe designer, coupled with the fact that I have had much written about me by other people over the years, I have decided to start one! (although, I still couldn’t get why people would want to read it?!).

I was invited by the English National Ballet to a spectacular night at The Dorchester Hotel on March 12th to watch performances to raise money for this wonderful Ballet Company.

The French Sole Story

French Sole first began life in the 1960’s when shoe designer Jane Winkworth was a teenager and holidaying in the South of France. As a life-long devotee of everything “ballet” Jane adored wearing ballet flats. After stumbling upon a tiny store in St Tropez which sold a range of brightly coloured ballet flats, she bought several pairs. She decided there and then that one day she would design and sell her own range of ballet flats for everyday wear - and so the story begins.
