August Openings August 13th 2013

August is here at last and the weather is completely gorgeous.

This month sees the opening of my two latest French Sole stores located in Manilla and Beijing…

It has been a long time in the planning and my wonderful partners Gilson Chu in Manilla and Snowy Li in Beijing have worked tirelessly for the past year getting all the millions of legal ends tied up before even beginning to embark on the search for suitable premises.

Setting up the hugely successful French Sole store in Malaysia in the prestigious Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur City Centre was accomplished in record time by my amazing friend Soo Shea Pin and it is a great credit to her and her attention to detail and her fabulous personal style that has made this Malaysian flagship French Sole store the number one destination for some of Asia’s most fashionable and famous women - including the current Queen of Malaysia, Sultanah Haminah Hamidun.

At first it seemed a daunting task to introduce my almost unheard of brand to the super-stylish fashionistas of Kuala Lumpur, but we had nothing to worry about and now more than two years on from the store opening - the brand has established itself as the absolute number one luxury flat footwear label and the business goes from strength to strength.

The latest two stores, with three more following very soon are located in central Beijing in the hugely famous new Galleries Lafayette building and the other in Manila’s latest and most prestigious shopping mall.
China has proved to be a great market for us because the wealthy and fashionable women of China want the highest quality products from Europe - and for shoes - they only want Italian leather, so here we score 100% every time with our beautifully hand lasted Spanish shoes made entirely from Italy’s finest leathers. I have always manufactured my shoes within Europe as they are renowned for their outstanding workmanship, the highest quality raw materials and ethical working conditions.

My visit to China lasted almost a month and I travelled extensively during that time and learned so much about their culture and traditions and I am so proud that this incredible country has fallen in love with French Sole and the little Ballerina Flats that I made so popular almost twenty five years ago.

Next year 2014 will be the twenty fifth anniversary of French Sole which I first started back in 1989 and we will be celebrating for the entire year with more store openings and special events throughout the year.

In two weeks time my new French Sole “Outlet Store” opens at Swallowfield adjacent to Unit J at Lambs Farm Business Park.  In previous years our store in Bicester Village was such a success that we decided to open our own outlet store right next to our warehouses - much more cost effective to be on our own site and have the shoes right next door. We can pass the savings directly on to our customers and we will be selling end of lines, broken size runs, factory samples and press samples from the latest collections, all for around £10 - £15 per pair - so hope to see you there! I might be serving you myself!

We will be opening to start with only on Fridays from 10 am until 5 pm and you will receive an EMail soon inviting you to a special opening day.
I am off to my beautiful home in Portugal for a few days before I return to California - so have a wonderful and happy summer everyone.
